for 18 gallons of 93 octane vs. 89 octane.
My Aero averages around 24 mpg with city highway mix, so 18 gallons/week gives me over 22,000 miles/year.
I spend $93/year just on candy bars, and the Aero gives me much more enjoyment than the candy bars.
Actually, the owner manual states: "If AON 90 is used and the ambient temperature is above 77-86F (25-30C) some decrease in engine power can occur to some extent."
So the Aero only "needs" 93 octane above 77F.
I run straight 93 for 4+ months of the year. Run some blend for another 3-4 months, and this time of year when it stays 40F and below, I run 89 octane, with an occasional fill of 93 when I expect to need a few more ponies. So much of the time the roads are somewhat slick anyways, additional power is moot at low-speed acceleration.
Maximas have been nice cars, and I haven't driven the new SE w/six speed, I'm sure it's fun to drive. I find the interior of the Aero to be superior, and I wanted a wagon. Sedan shopping would be a tougher choice.
