this thread reminds me of the tasteless joke.." other than that Mrs. Lincoln...how was the play..." og 900's are best suited for the people that more or less enjoy tinkering on the car...because until a hi mileage saab is "re-squared" they will require endless "adjustments", however..the overall durability is really quite good. by the time a car reaches 150k + miles....it is going to have a lot of wear. the block is amazingly stout and with good lubes the bottom end is also. turbos wear out as do engines that have to deal with abuse..as many turbo cars have. if you ever hav a chance to find a LOW miles og900...it will last quite handily to about 130k+ with no work at all. many saabs go 300k+ on stock parts. lots of little things that need updating after a while, as on any car. i.e. radiators, susp, headliners of course... remedying abusive owners is the primary repair problem. it all depends on what you want. if you can find a clean 90ish( pre 91) og900 n/a 5 speed..it will last a LOOOOOONNNNGG time. turbos are not so lucky since every teenage and rapid roy driver that got in it beat the crap out of it but I fully expect my latest rebuild to last another 100k miles. FWIW i have seen a lot of hi milage hondas also...but you can't haul a refrigerator in a honda..nor tow a ton+ nor tweak the apc until you smoke 5 liter fords. Not to mention the fact that Saabs are very very safe in a serious collision. but if you buy one be ready to spend a little time and or money to set it straight...if you learn to do your own work they are not so spendy...and the best part of course...tons of free online support courtesy of scott p et all. oy....back to work! :)
