Went driving around tonight with a 10L gas can in the back seat.
After some driving, the low fuel light started to come on in the corners, gauge was reading ~1/4 fill. Historically a few miles after this the car would start to die. Like clockwork, I loose power and pull over. Wait a few minutes, restart, and go. Less than a minute later, the car dies again. Get out, and dump maybe a gallon of gas from my can in the tank and make my way home (less than 5 miles away).

I take the fuel gauge sender unit out, and start to siphon the tank into my larger, 20L gas can. It hardly smells like gas, very diluted. I siphon all the way down, to get the tank as dry as possible. Then I dump in 12 oz of the red isopropyl heet, and the remaining contents of my 10L gas can.

Drive over to the nearest gas station with the low fuel light on the whole way (I have never had the tank this low, ever) and fill up the tank and the 10L can with 19.5 gallons of gas.

When this tank is nearly empty I am going to fill it up and add 12 ounces of Redline's Water Remover. While the two Heet flavors are alcohol based, Redline is glycol based, so instead of absorbing the water it holds it in suspension at a specific gravity equal to gasoline and burns it off that way. The 12 ounces is supposed to be good for 250 gallons, however it is a 1:1 ratio (12 ounces of glycol will remove 12 ounces of water).

Hopefully this will rid the entire system of water.

BTW, if you're looking for quality gas cans that won't leak, smell, and spill all over, all while having the easiest pour system developed, search for Wavian NATO Jerry Cans, I got mine here:
