The pictures show plugs that are firing using 1977 technology, i.e. ignition points and a coil, possibly "electronic points" but most likely not. Newer cars, such as SAAB 9000s with Direct Ignition systems, have a much improved system with a much hotter spark and burn much cleaner. The plugs in my 9000 also look like pictures 22 and 23 - if they looked like the ones that are labeled "best" I would be concerned!
