Thanks TML and Ken!

When I compare the BCPR7ES-11 to the BCPR7EIX-11 I find they are identical in most ways. In both part numbers the "R" designates a 5k ohm ceramic resistor. That information isn't found in the description and specs of either plug. It is in a faq that I've linked below

Trionic should work at least as well with the iridium NGK plugs, if not better. I'm willing to pay $20 more for a set the next time I buy plugs. Until then I'm setting the gap of my BCPR7ES-11 plugs to .038".

As is so often the case at saabnet I have learned more than expected when I posted my question. Thanks to everyone who replied.
