I must say, the first time I got the 100% market value letter in the mail, I felt some butterflies in my stomach. "Could I possibly upgrade my 97 NG900 for a brand new 2004 and have them pay be 100% market value for my car at the same time???"
I never took them up on their offer b/c some stunk about it. I later read about 100% market value just means, "we'll pay you the same amount we normally would pay if we weren't running this promo and you wanted to trade your car in. Not a penny more, not a penny less. Oh, and by the way, market value really means trade-in value."
Now more and more customer's are falling for the ploy and legitimately thinking they are going to take advantage of a two-day sales event. Only to find out it was nothing more than a sham to get people through the door.
In the position that Saab is in...the last thing it wants to do is anger the existing customers. Its a shameful practice...
