You've got the actual Kelley Blue Book that dealers and banks use with actual wholesale figures in 'em, Karpower which is the software for the same, and you can purchase the "Market Value" program from KBB that pegs the resale to the amount of reconditioning required.
The KBB website which uses poor-fair-good-excellent, to rate trade ins and gives a very similar result. KBB Market Value is a copyrighted software program from KBB which instead of rating a category, you enter the actual dollar amount of estimated reconditioning with a minimum amount of $350, which I suppose kicks anything out of the excellent category.
It's a very powerful promotion, gives customers unreasonable hope, that's what makes it so effective. We were some of the first to use it in my old Saturn days in the late 90's, only we used to go 110% !!
