The key would be having a good independent. But really nice late 70's/early 80's 911s are getting very expensive, a lot more than I would want to spend on the toy. You could get a really nice Boxster for a lot less and I think it would give much the same experience. Actually if I were in the market for a toy I'd probably get a MB SL (450-560)from the late 80's. They're really nice car (cruiser) and are a real bargain at the moment. I've spent some time in my boss's '95 320 Cabriolet and kind of like it. Of course the same money would put me in a '00-plus Saab convertible which is probably what I'd end up actually buying.
