So it made it's way from concept to showroom very much intact! What I don't get is the fascination manufacturers have in making EV's awkwardly fugly looking in an attempt to be "different". It's not the end of the world, and I understand it is a niche (small city car EV is more accessible than touring car EV at the moment), but imho this stuff is too niche. Just make a real 3 series EV already! Quite frankly if SAAB had made a 9-3 wagon EV that looked exactly like a normal 9-3 wagon, I'd be much more excited than these electrified subcompacts (even if nicely appointed).
This is why Tesla S is so appealing. Sure, the design might not be quite as clean and timeless as the Europeans can do, but it really has a whole heck of a lot in common with the 9000. To me, this is the first *real* electric car. It's a car I would like to own even ignoring the EV aspect. I think there will be better options in the future (I still like the idea of the wheel motors like Volvo was testing), but somehow, Tesla seems to be getting on the right track sooner than everyone else. That's fairly important if they want to survive as a business!
