Just as a follow-up: Clearing up the two Brians sure had me scratching my head. The site apparently included the other Brian under other posts by you. The last version of the Saab proprietary scanner is called a "Saab Tech II," and is needed for many things, even if you just add or swap out a radio head unit, CD player, etc. In the past I had aq friendly tech who would set my car to European settings with the scanner. That allowed many functions US Saabs didn't get, like being able to run fog lights with high beams on as an example. No other way to do that stuff without the Tech II. The trunk mounted CD player was crazy. My original one failed, I replaced it, wouldn't work. Called dealer, he said "oh yeah- I have to divorce your changer from the computer with Tech II, then replace it, then marry the new one to the car so it'll work. Nuts, right? Just another Saab thing! At times I'm tempted to call my Saabs what we used to call my Peugeots: "The car you love to hate!"
