I've been away from the BB for a couple days.. thanks to all who took the time to respond with their opinins and real world experience... very helpful.. My commute takes me through not so greatly plowed winding and hilly back roads into South Paris that end up with good layer of ice pack (especially when towns run out of salt like this winter). Auburn actually got some bigger snow this year than westerm mountains at times.. wierd winter.. South Paris generally gets the tail of the big western mountain snows.. not sure where the "real Mainer" mountain poster was from but we see our fair share of accumulation in these areas.. if money permits, will go with second set of rims and tires..
last question regarding this tire post.. benefits of 15" over 16" rims? Herb is that what you were referring to in your tire height and width explanation i.e. going with 15" gets you more tire height cushion from rim? If I could find some good used alloys I would prefer that to steel, but are they available in 15" stock Saab??
Again thanks to all who took time to respond. this forum is great...
