Yes, even when I bought my first (used) Saab, a 1978 bought in 1990.. Saab had an awfull reputation. I bought it because I was back to studies and had almost no money. The car lasted many years, and piled up near 400Kmiles without significant problem, until the head gasket blew..
I enjoy Saabs, and have the chance to have found a marvelous garage (private) that loves them, so, that's why I do not worry about maintenance. Should this little workshop close, and I'd sell my car. Saab's own garages are thieves with a snobery attitude.
As for Saab's future, it's easy to bet that GM among their choices could close the Saab's plant and turn out Saturn based Saabs with a Saabish look.
Installing the ignition key between the seats, keeping the nice Saab style dashboard, seats and front grill, and GM would be convinced that buyers would not make any difference. They are that stupid.
