Just made the move myself from a 1996 9000 super CS (my 4th 9000) to a 2001 aero wagon. Both cars are manual transmission cars. The 9-5 handles better, is about as fast off the line but gets slightly worse gas mileage. I am running the auto-rx treatment to deal with the sludge headache (although I did the hanger test in the oil pan and came up with no sludge) and will be installing the latest PCV update soon. Had to replace the DIC. Most annoying feature of the aero wagon is the overly-blingy 17" wheels that rub when the car is carrying more than two people. Plan to swap the wheels as soon as I can to something more conservative looking. The great news about the 9-5s is you can find one for about the same price as a decent 9000 and they do drive like Saabs. Excellent handling, good mpgs, very comfortable seats. Go for it!
