Sorry to hear. I won't tell you that the two '99 9-5s in my family fleet which are also faithfully maintained are still purring in everyday use. But they all go sometime.
My '02: If you compare what's out there, you can get great prices on low mileage Saab 9-5s, and the later models have better reliability reports than our '99s. As well they should, they've been making the same car for quite a while.
Some of the cars you mention might be harder to find a great buy on, or they might have their own durability issues or the owners might have been practicing hooners.
If durability/reliability is your most important vehicle consideration in the next few years why not focus your search on this group? Since the Subie Legacy is coming out with an extensive revision, you might look for a well-maintained trade in with a few years on it.
