21 mpg!!! City driving I hope. I just drove my 2001 Aero with 160,000 miles on it to The Sierras from LA at times I was getting 34 mpg at 70mph in the desert at 4000 feet. For 350miles the average was 31.8 mpg.
I have NEVER gotten 21.
On the long climb up to Mammoth Lakes from Bishop, I was at 6500 feet elevation cruising at 55 on this climb. An optima passed me very very gradually. When they were by, I downshifted to 3rd, hit 5000 rpm, then into 4th to 5000. I went from 55 to 95 up a steep hill at that altitude. bye bye Optima.......never say them again. Maybe he did get 3 mpg more than me! But the 95 on this trip was relaxing, cruising, great air, great radio, great safety, great power.......just plain a great car. And I really appreciate that. I am just one of those nuts who know the Saab 95 Aero is one of the best cars in the world. I am talking about the old generation.
We have 2 of them and love them. We have had loads of other cars including some Japanese ones.....and you can't beat the Saab.
to each his own. I personally know something good when I see it.
