When I lived in Vermont/New Hampshire for over 15 years, I ran the Nokian Hakkapellita for a long time and NEVER had any problem ANYWHERE in ANY storm. They definitely give you a good level of confidence in bad weather. In 2008, I then tried the Dunlop Wintersport 3d, definitely better on the highway and not as noisy, good grip, but obviously NOT as good as the Nokian. You just had to be a little more careful with them (giving cars more space, slowing down a bit more for the ice before stop lights/stop signs, etc.) If you just want to never worry, get the Nokian, if the highway noise thing is really an issue, then take a look at the Dunlop.
