tell me about it... I'm in the process of sorting out our (new to us) 9-5 that just wore out the summer tires due to the suspension sag/toe/camber issues... so new shocks (and other bits), summer tires + winter tires + winter rims. Not cheap!
I really like the Nokian Hakkas on our other Saabs. I've heard a lot of good comments re the WRs but I prefer separate snows + performance summers rather than a compromise. Even among snow tires, there are very different compromises + biases. Some are more oriented around deep snow performance (eg Hakka) others primarily for straight line stopping on ice (most Asian brands). others a compromise between those extremes (blizzak). I've found Hakkas here cost around the same as other quality winter tires (michelin, blizzak). Maybe shop around?
