I dropped my car off at a rock bottom hourly rate to do this labor intensive booster job (mine hissed all the time except when you applied light pressure). They did the job for ($50 hourly) $250.
I ordered my booster from goldwing.com. Part came out of a 03 with 90K miles on it. My booster failed at 150K and I really needed was 40K or less out of it. I forgot what goldwing charged me but I want to say $150 or something like that. $400 dollars later it was fixed.
The shop didn't adjust the rod properly the first time and put everything back together. The brakes were applied all the time regardless of pedal pressure. Turns out they didn't adjust the rod on the replacement part to match the one taken out. It's a twist type adjustment simply line up both parts and make sure the washer type part is the same length up the screw rod as the one you're taking out. This can be done outside of the car.
Make sure that you put back the rubber grommet covering the hole in the firewall with care. If it slips off you'll have hot engine air leaking into the cabin.
