My 2003 9-5 aero sedan has 122K miles on it now. There is a creaking sound
under the passenger seat when I step on the gas; alas I'm 90% sure its the front subframe bushings as they were called out when I had my suspension reviewed a year ago.
With the colder weather it seems a moan, whine or whistle is back when I
release the brake. Its a long squeal now; I'm 90% sure its the brake booster.. I had slight noise squeal when letting off the brake last summer; my mechanic said the booster was fine, hose/valve to the booster was fine then and I have not heard it until now.
I don't think I can do either of these jobs myself.. Maybe the booster but
I don't want to make a mistake with brakes. I just did the serpentine belt and pulleys last weekend (cant see how that would affect the brake booster). (big thanks for the procedures here). I can't do the rear subframes myself with jack stands I dont think.
I'm really down on the sounds the car is making; between the booster and the subframe, despite all the repairs I've done, the car sounds really really old when driving. My friends at work have Acuras and Hondas and with close to 100k on them they sound more solid than my 9-5. To add insult to injury they don't know what a bushing or brake booster is and
have had to do very little repairs to their cars. This will be my third Saab but I don't remember having to fix so much. A lot has been replaced on my 9-5 so I know what's left. My honda friends do not any such lists.
Just looking for kind advice and support saying I would have not been better off with a Honda. The bushings wear out Hondas right? The 9-3 people have any less repairs?
