I've had an 00 sedan and an 02 wagon. Neither Aero.
While I prefer the look and convenience of the wagon (especially after going to it from a classic 900), it was noticeably more flexible and louder than the sedan, which you might expect. I didn't mind the subtle sound difference but my wife couldn't stand it--said she felt like it was a truck by comparison. I thought it sounded more like my old 900, so naturally I liked it.
Our 02 wasn't as reliable (all dealer records were good & complete etc tho), so I recently sold it and kept the 00--even with the 4spd auto v 5spd I still prefer it. I also like the more retro look, real glass etc., of the first cars much better (reference to that c900 again) and our 2000 was, and still is, a MUCH tighter and newer-feeling car.
I think the tightness difference was mainly because of the driving styles and maintenance of the previous owners (it was even in the steering feel), but also partly because of the sedan v wagon.
I know the Aero is more fun, but my pristine 2000 lpt looks just like one now and will still smoke its 18x8's when I punch it. It's a blast to drive, every day.
