Car dealers will say anything to sell a car.

Also, I dont understand why people don't get PPI's done by a specialist on any vehicle they purchase second hand. If the dealer wont allow it then run don't walk away.

Here's a copy and paste from a 2008 9-3 2.0T CVT ~100k that came in today with a misfire when cold and the customer just purchased it. Asked us to do a full go over and we found the attached list. Around $4,000 total.

Best of all the dealership told the customer they have a 30 day powertrain warranty on the vehicle but it turns out its a gentlemens agreement and not an actual written contract. They also stipulate they must do all the work in house. I told the customer they would need special tools to lock the cams and time the engine which the used car dealer will not have. Who knows how that's going to go. Bill for my hour of diag and send them on their way.
