I posted earlier about my battery issue. That fixed hard starting and may be related to oddball codes and behavior I've had.
I replaced the battery. My wife drove the car and three miles from the house the dash warning lights turned off and the car lost power. The car was stopped and then restarted. It fired right up but the CEL came on.
I checked the codes: P1662 and P1641. The first is for the "Charge Air Control Valve", and the second is for no voltage at Fuel Pump Relay. I got the "Control Valve" as well as "Failure of computer (TCM) to reach system bus".
The car makes full power so I find it hard to believe that code P1662 is correct. I fail to see how a fuel pump relay issue or the Charge Air Valve could made the dash module stop functioning. Any thoughts?
I drove the car eight miles tonight and not a single problem - no codes. My wife is afraid to drive the car again for fear it will fail again.
I will change the fuel pump, relay, and filter as the car currently has 155,000 miles on it and has not had the fuel system overhauled (as far as I know). I recall doing some analysis on fuel pump life and found this is slightly early for a pump to quit, although the distribution is bi-modal.
If the fuel pump relay quits, will it take out the instrumentation?
Thanks,
Doug
