Wow! So much simpler than what's in the WIS! They call for pulling out the lock cylinder, disassembling and removing the shift lever, and removing the shift cable. Can you really do this job without removing the shift cable? I'd heard others on this board state that it is necessary to pull the shift cable and a "c-clip" - and that can be a bit fiddly.
The end of the shift cable on my trans looks cracked. Since my wife really likes the car and we plan to keep it to well over 200k, I may consider replacing it as long as I have the console apart.
I'll post back after the 27th when I attempt replacement. I did the jalousie without issue so I'm thinking this can't be that much more involved.
