Yes I never remove the cable to replace the ignition switch. And I don't take out the lock cylinder or anything else extra either. If you take the cable off you can change the switch on a bench. Yes getting the cable back on can be a little tricky. I always use a lady slipper prybar to lever it back together. Yes I would get an extra c-clip if I didn't allready have a few laying around. It likes to try to escape under the carpet or matting sometimes. It would be a good time to change the cable if you have that in your future. I think the worst part of that job is getting the grommet fitted back in the firewall. You don't want a water leak there. Good Luck, Bernie
