I am not trying to put any ideas into your head but will 1999 to 2005 inclusive hitches fit the 2006? The unibody is probably? the same? but the design of the rear plastic bumper might? be problematic. My plan was to move the 2005 hitch over the the 2006 as the 2005 grew weary and old but I have never confirmed that possibility with any measurements. I eagerly await other feedback by members of the club.
