After troubleshooting things members suggested, replacing battery, new fuel filter (needed one but didn't expect to help since it wasn't spitting or spuddering when dying), buying a battery tester to test cranking and charging, fixing a suspect alternator wire... no luck. Car will die while at idle in the driveway after 15 min of run time. No drama, it just does like you shut off ignition. Car will restart once then die after very brief time maybe 30 seconds. Then upon next restart all it does is turn over. If it sits for a couple hours, it starts and repeats this cycle. One time, I noticed a "whooshing" noise near the master cylinder when it died after first restart. It is not throwing any codes. Has new OEM DIC's installed 8 mo's ago. Car idles fine and revs fine. Can drive up and down the road aggressively with no performance issues in the short time before it dies then restarts once.
What is the component beneath and to left of the master cylinder on the fire wall? That is where I thought I heard the whooshing noise from.
Is there a way to monitor spark while starting without pulling the DIC?
thank you!
