oil leak - crankshaft puller or pan? Posted by mlc [Email] (#1747) [Profile/Gallery] (more from mlc) on Mon, 23 Mar 2020 07:38:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi all..
I've had a small leak for many months now...and it accumulates above the plastic shield.. mostly around the pulley and oil filter area... I've cleaned up the area.. and now have narrowed it down.. as it appears to be dripping from the 13 mm pan bolt just behind the crankshaft pulley... So I'm not sure if its the crankshaft seal/oil pump ring combo (which was replace around 3 yrs ago).. or if the pan itself is leaking through that bolt?
anyway to tell for sure... ? Do i need to pull the crankshaft pulley off to determine?
I tightened up the bolts around the pan in that area.. and i removed the one , and coated it with some gasket sealant, as well...
It's a slow leak.. never seems to accumulate in garage... when sitting overnight even for a few days...
