I've had no issues with parts for the several Saabs I've owned over the years (3 9-5s). I also feel that the 9-5 hits a spot that few other cars are able to replicate. There are lots of cars that meet or exceed many of the metrics, but the 9-5 has a kind of niche.
If I could "order" a 9-5, it would be an '04-'05 Aero. I think those are the best combination of update and original. (I would like a manual Aero wagon, but I have been happy with the other 3 9-5 wagons I've had/have... though I am constantly looking for my own unicorn!)
I'm glad to hear you liked the V6, but most people will say that the B235R is an easier engine to live with and maintain.
There is a lot of information here on Saabnet (and on other forums) that make keeping these cars on the road rather easy. The trouble spots are well known, and some preventative maintenance will keep you from fearing being stranded.
Anyway, all the best with the search. Let us know what you find.
