I just picked up another 04 wagon for $3000 with a great service history. I justified another $3000 in body and suspension work and it looks almost like a new car now. If this is your sort of thing you can still find examples worth renovating. I understand going even newer though and that does leave a traitor feeling. Audi, BMW, VW maybe, would be my choices. I just can't warm up to Volvo, but that is just me. Used, of course. I can't justify a new purchase in a salt belt. (Maine)
