I recommend to remove the alternator and check it fully because usually when regulator brushes are worn then the other alternator components are also at the lifetime limit. Replacing only the regulator is usually only a temporary fix - bearings, slip rings, and clutch (if present) should also be replaced to avoid further issues in a short time. 15-years old bearing even when it seems perfectly fine at the moment is worn and will fail shortly (old dirty grease, worn seals, etc.).
I usually buy a second alternator for rebuild and simply swap them.
Educational part - WARNING! Long & boring nevertheless educational ;)
Bearings in an alternator have a tough life (rotation up to 20.000RPM, temperatures over 120°C, high axial load on the pulley side). That is why they are not standard and should be replaced with the corresponding type - size marking (like 6203) specifies only size - it will fit but to ensure proper lifetime (standard bearing will last about one year) this application need special seals (high RPM), special grease (extended temp. range + high RPM) and sometimes special construction (pulley side bearing has a thicker internal ring made with special alloy to withstand high axial forces). Easiest way is to get replacement part from alternator manufacturer - Bosch.
Here you can read the source material from NSK - japanese bearing company - supplier to Bosch.
