My point is less about the antenna and more about the wiring harness that provides power and connects to the amps, etc. If that connector is making marginal connection (not all pins fully seated) you may get enough to get some sound, but not full sound and all control functionality. Make sure that connector is seating in the back of the radio completely and all points are well seated.
