Looking at a 9-5 Wagon (01): 4 or V6?

OK, newbie post time....I currently own two Japanese cars and am seriously looking at replacing one of them with a 2001 9-5 wagon. I don't personally know anyone with a Saab, but from what my mechanic says (he works on them), they are pretty reliable, but cost a lot more for parts. Is there anything I need to be careful of? If I buy one, it will probably be a 2001 and under 50k miles.
The dealers here (twin cities, MN) have a number of SE (V6) wagons, which are nice, but some have said that the 4 cyl is a better bet (Saab engine VS GM engine, etc). Should I avoid the 6 and seek out a 4? Thanks in advance,
John
