I read the bulletin in the GM tech info site (I bought a day for kicks) but lost my copy of the exact text. It was filed under engine management, not under bulletins, which was sort of odd.

The bulletin is vague. It outlines more than one change. It says the software upgrade contains changes to 'designed to extend the service life of the unit.' That is all it actually says about lifespan (real useful!)

_Seperate issue_ is fault reporting (at least the way the bulletin was worded)... then several pages of extended error codes for the DI in both the 4 and 6 cylinder.

How they're related, and what's specifically different about the T7 software and the new DI revision, are conjecture at this point (besides the 200-some-odd extended codes). Why they didn't go into more operational detail is beyond me, the T7 documentation gets luridly technical in portions, with extremely specific numbers, procedures, and diagrams.
