First, verify the battery's state of charge. Should be 13.5 volts for a good one.
Check both ends of both battery cables. Sometimes there's corrosion where the cable itself goes into the clamp. Don't forget the other end...
There's a small wire on the starter solenoid, pull that off, it's the starter signal coming from the ignition switch. It should get battery voltage when you turn the key to start. Check that it does. Then make sure it's tight when you put it back on.
Disconnect the battery, then check tightness of (+) cable down at the starter. Check wire itself where it's crimped into the end lug. Put it back, try the starter. If no go, then try putting a voltmeter from that cable post to ground. It should read battery voltage, but then see what it does when someone turns the key to start. Be careful you don't short to ground with the meter probe.
