Pretty much if you do it right the first time you don't have to pay for the job again, or again, or again. Just as Doug says if you don't get the metal sealed it WILL rust and cause more down the road, hence more money. Yes it my really suck to get the sealer to the back of the panel but at least the rust won't travel threw the whole panel, it is called cancer for a reason. I guess what your choice is do you put a Band-aide on a gaping wound or would getting "stitches" be a better idea. I have the same problem on a few of my own cars, one I put "band-aides" on 2 years ago because I didn't have the resources to do the job right, Well yesterday I got tired of watching the cancer show its ugly head threw the 2 year old paint so I took the grinder with the wire wheel to it and virtually took all of my band-aides out to find..... yes, more rust. And when I did it originally I knew that it was a bad idea because the whole backside of the panel was exposed and was rust. So here I am doing it again, more money, more time. When if I would have smarter the metal and the sealer would have been alot cheaper than the project that I now am faced with. So on this note "choose your destiny" and mine is to find a welder then use fillers where needed to smooth out the spots as needed, not as an ANSWER.
