I spite of loving Saabs (I've owned at least 15 going back to a '68 Stroker)I very rarely recommend them to other people. Most of us on this board do a certain amount of work ourselves, shop around for parts and labor, occassionally use wrecking yard stuff, etc. The upshot is that a C900 can be a reasonably affordable car to own and maintain, but it requires a level of owner involvement that is far beyond what most people are willing to do. And most of us are grown adults with real jobs who can afford to spend what it's takes to keep them going. My first car was a three year old Triumph GT6 (back in the olden days) when I was a senior in highschool and between payments and repairs it was constantly sucking me dry. At a time when I was suppose to be footloose and fancy free I had a car that was like an anchor around my leg. My advise, unless you're willing to get jiggy with learning how to work on cars, get something cheap, Japanese and simple for your first car-think Honda, Toyota, Subaru. Saabs are great fun but it comes at a price.
