Interesting description of the DI/APC . . . having never had a 9000 i had no idea how it worked!
I have to put my support behind LH 2.4 as well. In the four LH2.4 cars i've owned the idle was always spot on without ever having to touch anything. Cleaning the AIC every two years was the only thing that needed to happen. Started perfectly hot or cold - winter and summer. Replaced one AMM (with a junkyard unit) over the course of 5 years.
LH 2.2, on the other hand gave me fits. Even after diligently setting up the idle there always seemed to be a bit of a fluctuation . . . and the car never quite came off throttle as smoothly as the LH2.4 (even with a new dashpot). I also went through 3 AMMs in an effort to eliminate the seasonal shifts in cold-start performance i encountered in the fall and spring . . . never really got it working they way i wanted it to.
All that said . . . was the LH 2.2 a big enough problem for me to take the time to switch it over to LH2.4? Absolutely not, but faced with a choice between the two I would take LH2.4 all day long.
