Well, I got my car back, and it was fine. Fan came on without incident. Extra bonus: since I bought the car, my anti-lock warning light has been lit at all times, but when I picked the car up it was no longer lit. It comes on when I turn the key and goes off when it should. Great.
Today I was driving and I hit a bump and the radio cut off. Great. I got it to come back on, but when I turned on my headlights, the anti-lock light came back on. Same as before: I hit the brake and the light flashes off momentarily. Great.
I got onto the highway, and it was bumper to bumper, and as soon as the engine got hot, the fan came on, and the engine stalled. It restarted without my having to wiggle the battery or anything, and the antilock light was off. It did the same thing again a little later.
After I got out of traffic, I turned on the headlights again, and the antilock light came back on and stayed on.
So, I should get a negative battery cable tomorrow, and I'm going to try to figure out the Townsend taillight ground instructions.
Other than that, and the fact that I spent a chunk of money for a mechanic to not fix my car, a good day so far.
Could a harmonic balancer going bad cause any of these symptoms?
