I was driving along in my 89 base 900 this morning and felt a slight hiccup or miss every few seconds all of a sudden. As I neared an intersection with a red light, I put the car in neutral and all of a sudden the check engine light comes on and the shift up light (which I had assumed was broken since I bought the car) started flashing. Then all the other idiot lights came on and I coasted to a stop and so did the engine.
Turned the key off. Tried to start and it fired right up with a smell of unburnt gas that quickly faded. Idled fine. I got back on the road and drove the rest of the way to work without incident. I think I felt the car hiccup a couple times again, but that might have been my imagination.
So... any ideas what the heck is going on?
