I seem to recall a fellow over on the Volvo side of things who offered a remotely adjustable Bosch voltage regulator (rheostat mounted on fender wall).
Another site recommended taking voltage measurements at the distribution point, suggesting this was more representative of what the system was seeing.
The combination might allow for optimization of system voltage.
Like you need another project.
