Finally thought of a couple of things. Not repairs though.
30-odd years ago I had a 95 wagon. We got permission to cut firewood
on someones back-40, but instead of borrowing a truck we took the
SAAB, folded down the middle seat, and stuffed it full of hardwood.
God knows how much weight it was, but it was frightening to drive,
lurching side to side and very difficult to stop. We made it home
of course, and surprisingly no damage done.
Same 95, girlfriend and I both home from college for winter break,
and we decide to spend some quiet time together on a snowy evening.
Well, there are plenty of dirt roads in the woods around town so
off we go. Well time to head home and there we are at the bottom
of an icy depression in the middle of the night in the dark in the
woods in the days before cell phones and it is very, very difficult to
get back out to the main road. Patience, and a light touch on the
gas and the handbrake and lots of pushing and shoving and we made it out,
avoiding a long and embarrassing walk to the nearest house to call
someones parents for a ride home.
Good times, though.
