If you are doing this alone, I'd tackle both sides of the suspension, and even pull the axles before you lift. We experimented with a engine 5 speed removal by getting one side out of the way and then pushing to the pass side, adn though it was successful, it took two guys to yank and tug, and then when it let go, the tripod shed one of the balls, then the dozens of needle bearings went everywhere. It was the three stooges with two people.
Now, multiply that with the autobox weighing in more than a 5 speed, and you're now needing another stooge.......I'd find a way to pull the axles, and lift it up and out. In particular if you're on your own.
