Landjet, you made a good point regarding the fuel accumulator. I crawled under today to take a look and it's clearly the original 38 year old one which must be filled with the same awful shellac-gas that is throughout. I can tell it's original by the overspray from the undercoating put on when new. Fortunately, no rust up there. So, simply to eliminate that variable in this growing equation, I ordered a replacement today. I also ordered an o-ring/diaphragm kit for the fuel distributor and a gasket/rebuild kit for the WUR. I have two fuel distributors now sitting on the bench. One should be a replacement salvage yard unit purchased by the 1st owner// the other must be the original that he thought was shot. Problem is, I can't tell which one is which at this point. I wish there was a simple bench-test to at least determine if one is truly dead. One I blow in the gas line-in port and air comes out the 4 lines going to the injectors. The other I blow in gas-in and nothing, even when I lift the air sensor plate. All told about 2 bills for that stuff I ordered today// and I am guessing a couple more for the missing parts that I am noticing. I even dropped the injectors off yesterday at a shop to be cleaned and tested, and he had the missing fuel pump pick-up that this early one needs. Things are coming together, so it might not be a super long haul I hope.
You know, I'm pretty excited about this car and working on it...at least until the snow starts.
