... i spent about $3000 on the auto to 5-speed swap also... but at that point i DID replace a bunch of items that i knew i would eventually get done anyways in the future...
I bought the car for $2,300 though... so... makes no sense really...
...i just decided to keep putting performance mods on it like it was some addiciton... even now i could spend thousands more!
In the end... i could have had a new car though... nothing as "special" as what i have now... but a NEW car that's just as fast and not rusting!
even if everything went right, i think it takes a certain kind of person to own one one of these "older" saabs and keep putting up with the quirky little problems they have and the retarded sums of money it costs to maintain... i mean all cars have there problems but you KNOW when your saab doesn't want to start or isnt running right, you're looking at AT LEAST several hundred in repairs or parts.
And even if you CAN work on it yourself... which i totally would IF i had a garage or any tools... then you're spending a lot of time....
...i don't know... i'll stand by my statement... it's not worth the time or money to convert the transmission from auto to 5-speed.
just BUY a 5-speed and get some performance work done to it... keep your OLD car for parts!
