Torque/HP relationship....> Posted by PGAero [Email] (#1143) [Profile/Gallery] (more from PGAero) on Thu, 18 Nov 2004 16:47:27 In Reply to: oops, misread post...., David Ingram, Thu, 18 Nov 2004 08:07:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Correct me if I'm wrong, but torque and horsepower are related by a direct relationship with RPM. So, unless you are doubling the engine speed, a 10% increase in HP will be the result of only a 10% increase in torque.
Also, it makes sense that, like Swedish Dynamics wrote, reducing the backpressure throughout the exhaust is the aim of having performance enhancing exhaust work done. The improvement due to a 3" DP is noticed even more if the Cat' and later restrictions (muffler, additional pipe) are minimized.
Kinda like having a garden hose with a restrictive nozzle. IF you increase the hose diameter, you'll see a difference in flow... but if you change the nozzle and the hose, you'll notice a bigger difference. (It's all fluid-dynamics to me!)
Well, good luck to all.
