I've heard that car manufacturers reduce tailpipe diameter to keep exhaust velocities up as the air cools.
I now see the importance of a large down-pipe (for tubo-charged cars especially). Ideally, the turbo would take gasses from the engine and spit them out to atmospheric pressure...that would optimize the turbo boost, right? And, getting the exhaust gasses out of the down pipe to keep that pressure as low as possible would benefit from reducing restriction down-stream, right?
So, Zeke, I have to ask...What do you do for a living? Or what is your educational background that you call me on the incompressible/compressible fluid flow thing? Just curious, and thanks for discussion.
