I believe the way most go with this is to convert the ECM and use the T7 BPC. I was looking at my options because I have (2) 97 9000’s, the wife’s CSE automatic and my 5-speed Aero.
Here’s my thought:
Order an ECM for the Aero with a Stage 1 tune and do the T7 conversion, cable and valve for the Aero and take my good T5 BPC valve that is on the Aero and put it on the CSE automatic. The question is, has anyone done the Stage 1 upgrade to an Aero ECU and noticed a performance difference? Is the Stage 1 tune essentially an “Aero” tune done to a standard CS/CSE ECM? Does the car get better MPG? Worse? Is there a better source than EEuro?
I will likely keep the Aero longer and it is in better condition, compression-wise. The CSE has two cylinders with low compression, not a good candidate for a performance upgrade. Besides, my 18 yr old son drives the CSE and he really doesn't need the temptation.
