GOTCHA! Engine won't raise far enough to slip in new mount Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Tue, 9 Jun 2020 09:47:59 In Reply to: Any 'gotchas' to look out for replacing engine mounts?, JerseySaab [Profile/Gallery] , Tue, 2 Jun 2020 14:11:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The front engine mount came out easily enough since it was in pieces. However I cannot get the engine up far enough to slip in the new mount.
The upper dogbone is disconnected and I managed to get the upper bolt out of the rear engine mount using wobble extensions from above. What happens is the engine tilts forward slightly while being lifted and after a certain point the car starts lifting off the jack stand. Still not enough room to wedge the new mount in.
I'm going to try undoing the transmission mount to see if that helps. Any other tips from someone who has done this would be great! (That rear mount looks to really be a bear...)
