Hi Bruce,
I don't know if you're running K-jet or D-jet, but...
If the car has K-jet:
Depends on whether you mean the auxilliary air valve (mounted on the cylinder head, between cylinders 2 and 3), which slowly closes off extra airflow as the car warms up, or the warm-up regulator (mounted on the end of the engine nearest the radiator), which is supposed to adjust fuel pressure as the car warms up, or the cold-start injector (on top of the intake manifold), which is supposed to squirt extra fuel into the manifold when you start the car and when the car is under full throttle.
Procedures for checking the air valve and the injector are pretty straightforward - dismount and look through the air valve when cold, and it should be wide open - although, thinking it through, disconnecting it should'nt cure the problem, the car would just run rich until it warmed up (I would think), because the warm-up regulator would still be feeding extra fuel.
The warm-up regulator uses a bi-metal strip to affect fuel flow - as the electrical signal from the injection controller heats the strip up, it's supposed to reduce fuel pressure through the regulator. Again, disconnecting it should just cause the car to run rich in general, or so I would think.
The cold-start injector could conceivably be on more than it needs to - if memory serves, it is actuated in a couple of ways - one of which is a small switch on the side of the throttle body facing the engine - if this switch is stuck in the "on" position, it could be triggering the 5th injector. The other means for actuating the injector is a vacuum switch which should be mounted near your ignition coil, and a thermo-time switch which is supposed to enable the vacuum switch (I think - it's been a little while).
If the car has D-jet, someone else will have to help you with that one.
