Hi Paul, knowing what kind of emission test you have (TSI, IM240, ASM etc--the shop that does it should be able to clarify that alphabet soup) and exactly what are your gas numbers, all of them, at what engine speed, would enable a better answer here. High CO indicates rich mixture in general, but what is high for a modern vehicle could be very low for you. Spark plug condition is a useful indicator of fuel mixture. Assuming a TSI test (Two Speed Idle, ie no dynamometer), as a starting point I would like to see not over 2% CO at both speeds. 4%-5% or more is higher than I would like. Curb idle should dial in with the idle mixture screw. 2500RPM idle adjustment requires jet changing. There is lots more to this including exhaust gas readings on the road with a portable analyzer and, ultimately, how does it run.
